This collection consists of ninety-three letters from American expatriate author and composer Paul Bowles to his literary agent at the William Morris Agency, Ned Leavitt, and six typescript manuscripts Bowles sent to the William Morris Agency, all created between 1975 and 1992. There are also six letters written by Bowles to other individuals and three letters written to Leavitt by individuals collaborating on work with Bowles.

Co-edited by John Hinsdale Thompson and John Malcolm Brinnin and based in Detroit, Signatures was a literary magazine of "works-to-be-published-later" written by contemporary American and international writers. Subtitled "Work in Progress," Signatures was first published in the Spring of 1936 and continued for a total of three issues, ceasing publication in 1938.

The Toby Olson Letters to Carl Thayler collection consists of 119 letters from American poet and Temple University professor, Toby Olson, to the poet Carl Thayler. Dating from 1967 to 1983, these detailed letters treat a variety of literary and personal matters and reveal the close friendship shared by Olson and Thayler.

The Pentagram Press was founded in 1974 by the Milwaukee-based poet Michael Tarachow as a publishing outlet for poetry and other new literature. The Pentagram Press archive, spanning the dates 1972-1999, documents the operations and output of the small fine press run by Michael Tarachow in Milwaukee and Markesan, in Wisconsin, and Minneapolis.
